Hop into my time machine :)

Back in time.

First off I have to say, I LOVE my job.
I'm so thankful for the opportunity I had to get into my line of work how I did. My Dad started a business when he was only 17 years old, 40 years ago today, and it has grown to be one of the most successful Honda Motorcycle Dealers in the country. When I was 16 years old I started to work at his shop in Accsessories. I did pretty good at it too. I would out sell all the boys :) Then my senior year in high school I only took two classes and had every other day off and I had the opportunity to work in Financing at 17 years old. Wow, that's young! I became Finance manager when I turned 18 years old and have been since then.
I love that I get to work with my Mom, Dad, Sister Tiffany, and Brother Adam. I love being around my family. They are all my best friends. Yes, I've learned it's pretty tough working with family at times but I wouldn't trade my opportunity for anything. I am one of the top Finance people in the entire country, and the numbers prove it :) I go to meetings in different states and work and manage people twice my age.
It's no "easy" ride, that's for sure. I work my butt off to get where I am. I work almost 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. It's really tough being 21, working that many hours and having tons of stress all the time but I wouldn't change a thing!
I love my job.
I'm so blessed for this opportunity I had to become successful at such a young age.

*A quick history of my dads motorcycle business*

Ron, my dad, and Paul (Brothers in law) started the business Cycle City Incorporated in July 1971 as Honda service and repair specialists after both had been working at different Honda dealerships in Salt Lake City.

Paul left the business in 1973 and Ron brought in 2 of his brothers (Dick and Dave) into the business as partners. The brothers moved the business and expanded into selling parts and accessories to complement their growing service business.

Over the next 5 years the The Brothers added Honda Power Equipment (Generators, Tillers, and Snowblowers) and also Toro Lawnmowers and Snowthrowers to their business. The brothers added the Indian motorcycle franchise and used motorcycles to the products that the business sold and serviced.

In 1979 the opportunity came available to purchase the Pacer Honda dealership which was then on State Street in Murray where the business grew for the next 25 years.

In 1980 the Polaris Snowmobile franchise was added to the product mix offered to their customers, and Cycle City recorded its first 1 million dollar sales year.

Dave left the business in 1983, so Ron and Dick ran the business as partners for the next 15 years. At that time the business was known as Perry Brothers Honda Ranch.

In 1985 they expanded to another Honda dealership in Provo Utah which they ran for only 2 years. The Provo store was closed after the government CPSC put a ban on 3 wheeler sales.

The Perry Brothers re-focused their efforts on the Highland Drive business for many more years and ran the business from that location until Dick sold his partnership to Ron in 1998. Ron has been running the store since then and Dick has been working behind the scenes as the comptroller of the business.

As the Honda product line continued to grow, and because the building space and the customer parking were so limited, in 1999 the Polaris franchise was sold to devote the entire effort to the Honda product line.

In 2004 Perry Motorsports became the first Honda Powerhouse dealership in Utah. It was obvious that in order to continue to grow that the business would have to re-locate to a larger facility.

After searching for many years, in 2005 the opportunity came to buy the existing Exotic Imports Lamborghini building and open in its place, the new “Honda World” dealership and open the only Honda Powerhouse dealership in Salt Lake County.

2006 was the first year that the Honda World store sold over 10 Million dollars of products including over 1000 new Hondas.

In 2008 the company expanded to purchase a multiline motorcycle business in Maui, Hawaii and Ron’s daughter and son in law, Josh and Tiffany left the Salt Lake store to run the business in Maui.

In 2010 the Cycle World Hawaii store was sold and Tiffany and Josh came back to the mainland to help run the Salt Lake store with Ron.

2011- Today Ron and Linda along with their oldest Daughter Tiffany, Son Adam, and youngest Daughter Crystal has assembled one of the best staff of employees and managers in the country that are all devoted to running one of the best Honda stores in the U.S.A. There is no question that the Honda motorcycle company employs the best engineers in the world and has set the standard for the powersports industry for quality and value in every product that they build. The “Honda World” company represents American Honda in Salt Lake County with one of the best teams of powersport professionals ever assembled, who really care about the entire ownership experience of their customers. The amazing employees are the biggest reason that Honda World is one of the most successful dealerships in the country today.

Here's to the next 40 years~

Great job Dad and Mom :)
